Happy Birthday Mum

I finally finished the Crossroads tablerunner, made from Hemming House fabrics, for Mum's birthday ... it was a week late but she didn't mind. She has put in an order for another one!

Quite pleased with my machine quilting ... even though it's still all straight lines. I'd love to be able to do swirls and stippling but I'm always scared of ruining the project.

I love Heather Mulder Peterson's patterns and was pleased to discover recently that she has a blog called Trends and Traditions. Definitely worth a visit ... lots of beautiful quilts and fabrics to see and her quilting studio is amazing.

  1. Hi Christine,
the tablerunner is gorgeous! I love the quilting design you chose, I think it's just perfect for this project.
As for stippling: just try it, I think it's easier than all those straight lines.
    Hugs, Julia

  5. Lovely tablerunner Christine and Julia is right stippling is easy, just do a bit of practise first and you will be fine to use it on a project. Loops are even easier!

  12. Christine, it's wonderful! I think the quilting you did is perfect for it. I'm very nervous about trying to do stipple or free motion quilting too -- and never quite work up the nerve to try!

  16. Auntie, your runners look great! There is a LOT to be said for nice straight lines. Some designs cry out for straight lines. One thing for sure: they take a lot of patience. I haven't yet learned to do them. hmmm, I wonder what that says.

  21. Your table runner looks great!

Set yourself up with some scraps and give free motion quilting a go, it's worth it! I practiced on a rectangle that became my cat's quilt mat, and she loves it.

  27. Love the straight line quilting, on the tablerunner. Stippling would have been a mistake.

  28. First time commenting on your blog. Absolutely love your work and the color choices you make. If it helps, I have been quilting a long time and I still can't stipple! I've tried and I've taken classes. Probably don't practice enough but for now, I'm blaming the machine!

  29. This is beautiful! It's no wonder your mum wants another, she is such a lucky mum to have such a talented daughter to make such lovely gifts!
HemmingHouse is such a lovely range too.
I am just like you with quilting, still a bit scared at the moment to venture into swirls etc. It will come though.
