On the Eighth Day ....

Having finished these 8 bon-bons my September OPAM tally is looking quite healthy.

I 'cheated' a little by using fabric printed with Christmas lyrics and phrases instead of stitching the fronts ... but I did needleturn each one. Was getting quite quick by the eighth one!

The green fabrics came from Stitchery Doo in Burnie ... they are from the Adoring range by Sandy Gervais. I managed to get 8 bon-bons from 2 fat quarters.

I used a mix of fabrics from my stash for the inner linings and one of my favourite ribbons
for the ties.

The bon-bon design is by Anni Downs. My 8 will be gifts at a special occasion coming up soon.

Pinwheels

After I watched the pinwheel video on Sarah's blog I grabbed this charm pack ...

and some white cotton and made these.

I liked how they were looking ...

and ended up with this.

It reminds me a bit of some of the Schnibble quilts that I've seen in blogland this year. At this stage, I'm thinking of adding a simple piano key border made from the leftover charm squares. Then maybe another thin white border and a scrappy binding. What do you think?

Lately this has become one of Oliver's favourite spots for his afternoon nap ...

such a cutie when he's asleep and not trying to 'help' me in the sewing room.

My bags are packed and ready to go to Exeter tomorrow for Kerry's workshop.
Can't wait to start sewing with the gorgeous Luna Notte fabrics I showed last post.

Mystery Quilt Fabrics

On Friday I had a great day out with Vicki, Roseanne and Sarah. In the morning we visited Leanne at Esme's in Launceston, then it was off to see Pauline at Calico Crossroads in Exeter. While there we picked out our fabrics for next weekends Mystery Quilt Class with Kerry Swain. My selection is mostly Luna Notte by 3 Sisters with a couple of French General fabrics thrown in.

The pale pink 'toiley' fabric at the bottom is going to be the background.

Back to school tomorrow ... gee that fortnight flew by .. but I have managed to finish the last two Simple Pleasures stitcheries ...

Jug of Flowers

Basket of Flowers

and Tail Feathers is now a completed top.

Over the next few weeks I need to concentrate on some 'secret' sewing.
Will try and show a few peeks along the way.

Simple Pleasures

As all the handstitching for Tail Feathers is done, this week I dug out my Simple Pleasures stitcheries. These four take my tally to 10 blocks ... just 2 more to do.

 Flowering Tree

 Single Flower Basket

Flutterby Butterfly

Kitty Kat

Peg and Fiona are both  working on Simple Pleasures too.

Even though it's supposed to be spring we are still getting a lot of cold wintery weather. Oliver tends to hog the spot in front of the heater ...

with Molly doing her best to get her share of the warmth.

Today I was going to do my tax but after watching this great video on Sarah's blog I spent the day working on pinwheel blocks. Pictures coming soon.

Holiday Stitching

The last few days have been quite productive. I have added the borders to these blocks which will go in the outer corners of Tail Feathers.

Next job is to join the log cabin blocks into long strips, then attach these blocks to the ends.

My favourite ... LOVE these fabrics

I also finished this stitchery ...

it will have to join the queue as far as being made into anything goes! ...

and did some quilting on my Cottage Blessings bag.

This was fun to do ... I like not having to worry about what it looks like on the back!

Just need to find the right lining fabric and this one can be finished. Even the handles are made!

Nearly forget, over the weekend I 'met' a new Aussie blogger Sarah. Please pop over and say 'hi'.

Tail Feathers Block 9

Block 9 is done.

The stitcheries in this block are Feathered Friends ...

  and Baby Bird. How cute!

Here are the nine centre blocks all sewn together. (The fringing is on the throw rug I lay on the ground to protect the quilt top. Spring has sprung but the early mornings are still damp.)

I started my holidays today so with any luck I'll get the log cabin borders attached very soon. So glad I made all  the border blocks earlier in the year.
