Country Fair

Recently, when updating some of  the lists in my side bar, I realised that this poor quilt was never the subject of a blog post.

It is called Country Fair and I think it was finished mid-2012

I purchased it as a kit from Sarah's Fig Tree Club.

It features the Butterscotch and Rose line of fabric and lots of Fig Tree cream.

The lovely quilting was done by Leanne. You may know her as Lizzy the Quilter.

I especially love the red's in this quilt ... I think this is my favourite block.

With school rapidly approaching I've not done as much sewing this week. A couple of dresdens and a few more Trip Around the World blocks is about all I can boast. Hopefully over the weekend I may be more productive in the sewing room ... wish me luck!

Scrappy Trip Around the World

Ok, I have been so good working away on UFOs since Christmas and have lots to share in the near future. This week, however, it was definitely time to start something new. Below are the first six blocks for my Scrappy Trip Around the World quilt. I have made two more since taking these pictures so the total now stands at 8.

I kept seeing so many gorgeous versions over the last couple of weeks that in the end the temptation was too great and I just dived in!

I am using all my favourite Bonnie and Camille fabrics in red, pink, aqua, grey, green and white/light.

I am sure you will recognise lots of Ruby, Vintage Modern and Marmalade.

I was a bit short on greens and white/lights so added some Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree Quilts in these colours.

I have all my strips cut and organised to make 36 blocks. Whenever I feel the urge to sew they are ready to just pick and go for it.

I have two more weeks of holidays before term 1 starts on Feb 4 ... gosh the time has flown by. I will be back soon to share some of the other projects I've been working on during the holidays.

A Pair of Table Runners

Before Christmas, I was involved in a couple of swaps within my stitching groups. I spent weeks trying to decide what to make until one day a new Little Charmers pattern by Heather Mulder Peterson arrived in the mail and suddenly I knew exactly what to make.

The pattern includes 3 different table runners ... I chose to make the one called Loops.

I cut 5 inch charm squares from my Kate Spain Flurry and 12 Days of Christmas fabrics and combined them with a red on white spot which was in my stash. (I think it came from Spotlight during one of their sales.)

I did some simple straight line quilting which I hoped would emphasize the 'loopiness' of the design ...

and finished with a red binding.

These runners were lots of fun to make and I'll definitely use the pattern again.

Rouenneries Quilt

I am VERY pleased to have finally finished my 2010 Friends in Stitching BOM quilt. It has been sitting in my sewing room waiting for a binding since July! I used one of  my all-time favourite ranges, Rouenneries by French General.

The day I cut and sewed the binding Oliver spent a relaxing afternoon checking it was snuggly enough ... naughty but cute!

A favourite block.

Binding .. solid red

Border .. I love this print.

Backing ... I love this print too!

I'll be back soon to share some more finishes.

Five Years in Blogland - Giveaway 5

Did you think I'd forgotten no 5? Yesterday I took a break from posting and added the finishing touches to the  final giveaway? It is Gem's Dilly Bag, designed by Marg Low and made by me.

I used some of my precious Ruby stash to make this cute little design.

The felt flower was fun to stitch and goes together very quickly.

To compliment the green scallop print on the outside, I used one of the larger floral prints with a green background for the lining.

I really hope you like my Gem's Dilly Bag ... it's going to be hard to part with! To register for this last giveaway,  just leave a comment on this post making sure I can contact you by email if you are the winner. This is a random giveaway and will finish at midnight on Friday 4th January. It is open to Australian and overseas readers.
